The Opportunity

TMI Solutions, Inc was challenged to build and support a business intelligence dashboard and provide end users with ad hoc reporting capabilities in a Managed Reporting Environment. This Agency Financial Management Information Systems is an integrated database system that is used to support the Agency’s purchasing, accounting, and payment functions. Expenditures processed through this system totaled approximately $28 billion during this reporting period.

Solution Implementation

TMI Solutions, Inc built and supported a WebFOCUS business intelligence dashboard and provided end users with ad hoc reporting capabilities in a secure web environment. In developing a secure intranet portal for this customer, TMI Solutions delivered the following services:

  • - Supported users at within Agency accounting teams, who use the system to enter lease details, report customer resource utilization, and generate invoices.
  • - Maintained the Oracle database for users and the PowerBuilder application and reports.
  • - Built a data interface with other Agency Maritime Exchange’s database which was responsible for importing vessel voyage data into the system to enable a new level of business intelligence.
  • - Built a WebFOCUS dashboard for Agency Aviation Agency that could be customized for individual user groups.

TMI Solutions, Inc delivered high-quality support by providing a qualified team with the needed skills at the right time, achieving the following results for the Agency: a robust and versatile billing system that can be adapted to fit the require¬ments of each client; structured ad hoc reporting capabilities for end users to allow new methods of data analysis including online analytical processing, drill-down reporting, and data visualization; secure HTML reporting tool that can be accessed and used by both system users and non-system users; and easy and effective data analysis capabilities for groups outside of the Accounting teams, including Operations and Marketing, for use during the billing process.
